Red Mountain Horse Trials and Combined Training FAQs
What is a Horse Trials?
- A Horse Trials (also known as Eventing) is an equestrian event where a single horse and rider combination compete against other horse and rider combinations across the three disciplines: Dressage; Cross-Country jumping; Show Jumping. The Red Mountain Horse Trials is a schooling show.
What is Combined Training Test?
- A Combined Training Test includes two of the three phases of a horse trials – the dressage and show jumping. The combined test is a great introduction to the sport of Eventing for horse/rider combinations who may not be ready to ride the cross country course. Combined tests will be offered this year for riders of all levels: ground poles through Novice. Riders entering the combined test will complete the same dressage test and show jumping course as those in the horse trial at the same level (e.g. everyone in the Introductory level will ride the USEA Starter dressage test, as well as the same show jumping course). Combined test riders will not do the cross country portion. The combined test competitors will be scored separately from the horse trials competitors, so each combined test level will be its own separate division/class.
